about me

Real life is my inspiration.

I spent the first 30 years of my life in Colorado and learned to appreciate the environment at a very young age. Through camping, fishing, hiking, skiing, and many other activities I enjoyed life in the outdoors in the 300+ days of sunshine that Colorado had to offer. This love for the environment led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. After graduation I worked at Xerox as a Sales Representative, but found myself wanting to do something more creative.

I went back to school and received an Associate of Applied Science in Interior Design from Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, Colorado. At the time, green and sustainable design was just beginning to be taught in some classes, and I decided it would be a wonderful way to apply my prior education in environmental studies to interior design. While in school I became involved in the Student Chapter of ASID and was the Student Representative to the Board of the Colorado Chapter of ASID.

After graduation I worked for a commercial furniture dealership on various projects throughout the state of Colorado. I also became involved in the Colorado Chapter of the USGBC (US Green Building Council). In August of 2004, I became a LEED Accredited Professional.

My passion for green and sustainable design led me to make a move to Oregon in January of 2006 with my husband, three black labs and two cats. Since I moved to Oregon I worked on various hospitality projects and high end residences throughout the Northwest with while working for WCI

In 2007 my husband and I started growing our family and now we have a little guy and a baby girl.  I stay at home with the kids and blog about real life and interior design when they let me!
